This is what finishing a mile's worth of Burpees looks like. Two people got
this beast first and shared the love around, and the John Fenn Burpee Mile was born.

Great job guys. Good squats. The Back squat requires less flexibility than its cousins, and allows people to get a good feel for what weight feels like, and the stability required for successful lifts. From our super stable set up, to our exceptionally tight core, things have to be firing.

Irrespective of how much weight was lifted, we were looking for consistency. From approaching the bar, through the set-up, the start and finish of the lift. Dialed in, hitting ALL the cues you've learned. Especially the puppies. Crawl, walk, run. Consistency before intensity.

The inaugural John Fenn Burpee Mile was something else. We frequently receive funny looks and sometimes questions from the people who live and walk by CFSF that see us training. However, things were taken up a notch when we were observed dropping down, pushing back up, and leaping forward. I didn't count the number of burpee's, but I got called crazy twice. This might just surpass girls on ropes as the most confusing looks, and longest stare times received.

Just like the St. Patrick's Day workout, this one will be on the calender. We already have a few commitments for next year.

Todd is taking the role of monster in training. Since he's already monstrous, it won't take too much more work. Three CrossFit heavies in one day? Elizabeth, Isabel, and Fran. HOOYAH! Todd. Kathryn also got a little extra 5 rounds of love. 7 HPC at 75, and 10 PLYO push-ups in 6:28. Oustanding!

Thanks for all the terrific efforts and great fuel. Thanks for another great day at CFSF.

Every second counts.

Burpee Mile 2

The weather was perfect, the judgement cloudy, at best. But it was a perfect night for the second annual John Fenn Burpee Mile. We had a total blast. Thanks for a super special time that also proves to us all that we can do a lot of things others deem impossible, impractical, or just insane.

Tenacious can be defined as pertinacious, persistent, stubborn, or obstinate. That sums up what is required when attacking a mile of Burpees. Great job everybody, regardless of how far you went, this was a tough event.

Thanks for the motivation to go fast Ryan R., and thanks Todd McK for such a great display of the no-quit attitude we love. Most of all, thanks John Fenn. His idea.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!" Overheard quite frequently with a not so subtle tone of anger.... But it was John's birthday and he is the reason we trek where we trek, and endeavor to do the things others won't. Happy birthday John. And yes, it's still a good idea.

Thanks for coming out. Thanks for the super hard work and monster efforts. Good job Marines, puppies, and everyone else. You are all awesome. You have no idea how much easier your presence made this.

363 days....

The 3rd Annual John Fenn Burpee Mile

Of all the strange looks we get when we venture outside our Box, the Burpee Mile might be the one workout that gets the most. That's ok, we're used to them. At least there were no near wrecks this year....

Great job everyone, however far you went. With quarter mile splits of anywhere from 21:00 to 30:00 minutes, this workout demands a level of commitment most do not have. The mile finish times ranged from 88:50 to 139:46, and the total number of Burpees ranged from 365 to 475. That's a lot of work.

"Why do you do this?" is the most common question. We choose to do hard things primarily to prove to ourselves that they can be done. It's our rebellion against low expectation, and our celebration of ability.

"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few."
 -Jesus Christ

We do today what others choose not to so that we can do tomorrow what others can't. Good job everybody.
