Another first session for most of us, the behind the neck jerk went well after some practice, mobility and more practice.

Anything behind the neck requires good shoulder flexibility. If you had difficulty, address the situation, either through added flexibility, mobility, or both. The best approach is a little bit, every day. Hit the sore spots, and the tight spots more frequently.
