Thanks to the greatest generation of Americans, 80 years ago today the Allied drive to end the Axis occupation of Europe, and their ultimate defeat begins. D-Day, or Operation Neptune, was the culmination of planning and preparation for what would be the largest amphibious landing the world has ever seen.
Most have died, but a very few of these brave men are still living, and they are owed a debt that can never be repaid. They fought and died for us, and the American way of life. Not only must we never let that fact fade away, but we must continue to strive to keep America the greatest country in the world and the absolute best place to live. We owe them that.
