Pam Shelton chose to join the Army as a nurse after listening to her brother's buddies share their stories from Vietnam. "These guys are very young, and they deserved our support- I felt a calling to serve. As nurses, we were the initial caregivers when the choppers landed. We stepped in as their moms, guardians. These brave young soldiers were defending our nation, and we were there to shield them."
Two decades post-war, Pam bumped into one of "her guys" at the airport. "This gentleman came up to me, and I saw him digging through his memory. I smiled in greeting, and he started crying. 'Aren't you Nurse Pam from Vietnam? You saved me.'" Even after all that time had passed, he hadn't forgotten Nurse Pam.
Thank you Pam Shelton.
